Amendment #1:

Alcohol consumption and partying will no longer be glorified.  There is no problem saying "we had a great time at a party", but the inclusion of talk of drunken members will no longer be tolerated.  We are gaining new members who are under drinking age, and do not want this forum to influence one of the most important decisions of their lives...  whether to drink, or not.  We also have members who for one reason, or not, are firmly against this sort of behavior.  If we allow members to go on and on about how cool it is to stay up all night drinking and partying...  still being drunk the next day, etc etc etc... we must also allow detractors to speak their minds.  We also believe this talk is keeping potentially great members from becoming involved.

Amendment #2:

Hijacking, or redirecting threads will no longer be allowed.  There is no reason whatsoever to interject a post into a great thread that might take it offcourse.  I suspect we all know what kind of post we're targetting here, but here are a couple of examples...

FishKing starts a great thread with pics, storyline, excellent report and such...  A few members respond with attaboys, pertinent questions, and then JoeBob posts "great job, reminds me of the time I was up there and slammed 'em good"...  JoeBob  posts a pic that's better than the original poster's, thereby taking the attention away from the terrific original post, and aborting the intent of the author...  Or maybe JoeBob says "nice, we did great yesterday too!  You should have been there!  Why don't you come fishing with us at such and such place!"

Basic rule is this...  Do not even think about making a post on someone else's thread that has specific purpose to put the attention of members on yourself, instead of the original author.

Amendment #3:

The New Fishin' Secrets Forum is not a chatroom.  If you feel a chatroom would be well received, let any of the administrators hear your opinions, and it will be strongly considered if enough members voice a need.  In the meantime, no longer will it be acceptable for a handful of members to take control of a thread, ignoring members outside their group.  We have had numerous negative comments about this sort of behavior.  It brings that thread to a screeching halt for the other members.  If you have a need to communicate in this way, use personal messages.

Amendment #4:

This is somewhat redundant, but just to reinforce our prime directive...  This forum is here for everybody to help each other become better anglers, not to put yourself on a pedestal to be idolized by the other members.  Please refrain from posts that are an attempt to accomplish this.  There is a huge difference in starting threads, showing terrific pics of scenery, fish, family and the like, taking the time to tell a story, and answering questions about places, methods, and such, even if in a PM...  and a thread that is just telling everybody how great you are, or how many cool things you have... particularly when it happens on a thread started by another member...

Amendment #5:

We will no longer allow posting of threads that might involve activity that could be against any government regulation.  We have no intention of being implicated by allowing conversation between members who may participate in such activities.

Amendment #6:

We will no longer allow classified ads on the forum for "true retail" situations.  If you are buying products at wholesale, or fabricating them and reselling them at a profit, we will be glad to put them on our Member Benefits page, if you are willing to give a discount.  Only those who are willing to resell to members at or below wholesale cost will be allowed to use the classifieds on the forum.  The classifieds are for selling your personal items, not to make a profit on members.  eBay and Craigslist are for making a profit.

Amendment #8:

This is a private forum, and thus it is a privelege, not a right to be a member.  Any infraction may lead to banning.

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONVINCE ANY ADMINISTRATOR THAT YOU SHOULD BE EXEMPT FROM THESE AMENDMENTS, OR THAT THEY SHOULD BE CHANGED.  ALL OF US ARE FIRMLY ON THE SAME PAGE, IN ADDITION TO MANY OTHER MEMBERS WHO HAVE REQUESTED THESE CHANGES BE MADE.
